Each year the members of the Noosa Malibu Club get behind a great fund raising day for Breast Cancer. This day also gives the club members a chance to dress up in “Pink” to support the charity and also to help our cross dressers who feel the urge.
Over the years the club has raised a considerable amount of money for this day. With a gold coin donation to surf and the ladies making wonderful cup cakes to sell it all comes together for an enjoyable morning of fun and food. I am more than sure that we all know someone that has had been hit by this terrible disease and as we all age we seem to hear about more people we know. We are all one big family joining together to get the message out there about “Breast Cancer”. Let’s hope the cure is close and that our fund raising will aid the research.
The club season starts in January and runs through to December. Our club divisions are made up of Juniors, Open and Age Divisions – Male & Female.
At the end of each year the club puts together a presentation day or night to announce the winners and helpers of the club. With only 8 out of 11 contests counted it makes for a very interesting culmination of points.
Classic Mal also give us a board to give away in a draw of the people who have surfed the majority of contests with all the names going into the hat. We have had Hawaiian theme days, disco nights, BBQ’s in the park, pig on a spit – all presentation days giving the club members a chance to let their hair down (if you have any) and enjoy the company of their fellow members and if you are lucky take home a trophy or two.
