Noosa Malibu Club competitions have been held ever since the club formed back in 1986. They are the backbone and most frequent social aspect of the club for club members. We generally hold our club contest on the 3rd Sunday of each month, however school holidays, public holidays and other events may cause this to change.
The Council permitted dates for the first half of 2024 are; 21 Jan, 18 Feb, 3 Mar, 14 Apr, 19 May, 23 Jun.
With the advent of social media we now advise the day’s location on our Facebook page by 6am on the morning of the comp. Depending on conditions we may surf First Point, between the Groynes, Castaways or Sunrise Beach.
We usually have approx. 50 to 60 members all greeting the morning sun. The club runs Juniors, Ladies & Mens divisions. Our heats run for 20 minutes and we always try to have 2 rounds. Competition is friendly and everyone is out for a good time. We try and surf Club competitions 11 times a year with 8 counting towards the end of year tally. As the monthly comps are dependent on surf, these numbers will be adjusted should there be less competitions in the year. Our season runs from January to December.
Regardless of whether you have a competitive streak or just want to surf amongst your peers for fun, the Sunday Club Round is for everyone.
Point scores are recorded throughout the year, check the Point Score page to see your current ranking, and tallied at the end of the surf calendar. We hold a presentation day which includes winners for the various divisions and age divisions along with best judge and club person of the year.
