Saturday Night Dinner

This year we will celebrate 20 years of the Wrecks & Relics. To commemorate this milestone a dinner will be held on the Saturday night at Noosa Springs Golf and Spa Resort. This will be a great night, with video and photo memories on the big screen, and a catch up and reminisce of the past 20 years! The cost for the evening is $65pp ($85pp for a non-surfing partner) which includes a drink on arrival and a 3 course sit down dinner (cash bar available).

Entries & Payment

Click the link HERE to open your entry form. Enter your details, click your payment option and submit the entry.

Initially, the numbers of heats for each division are set but reserves will still be accepted after divisions are full, you will see notification when divisions are full, and your entry is a ‘reserve only’. We want to remain fluid with number of heats between divisions to cater for the demand. If demand is greater in one division than others we will adjust heat numbers as necessary so get your entries in ASAP … it’s first in best dressed.

To commemorate the 20 year anniversary, this year competitors will receive not only a competition T-Shirt, but also a pair of Wrecks & Relics boardshorts! Make sure you select your size carefully for both!

Registration is at the Noosa Reef Hotel again this year, starting at 5pm Thursday 6th June. The Reef is on the crest of Noosa Drive just as you head down the hill to Hastings Street and you’ll find us upstairs on the terrace. Register, collect your competitor bag, and join your friends for a drink.

Meals and bevies are available at the venue for those who want to carry on afterward. We recommend you book a table at www.noosareef.com.au/book-a-table.

The Surfing

This year, the contest will be a three-day event and we are running 6-person heats. Each competitor will have the opportunity to surf at least twice. Keep an eye on the running order and progressions to ensure you’re on time for your heats.

Check the Noosa Malibu club Facebook page after 6.00am each day to find out where the comp will be held. Daily finishing times will depend on final competitor numbers.

Peer judging format is the same as previous years. Judge a heat – miss a heat – surf a heat. It works when everyone participates and it gives you a chance to familiarize yourself with conditions before it’s your turn to hit the water. Judging criteria is posted on the NMC website - www.noosamalibuclub.com/competition-rules. A good knowledge of these will ensure your judging is reliable and, to your benefit, increase your own scoring potential through an understanding of what the judges are looking for!

Old Mal

This refers to the board, not the rider, and your chosen craft should be pre 1968.

Breakfast and lunch

Complimentary breakfast and light lunch will be provided for each competitor on Friday and Saturday, and brunch on Sunday. Please don’t expect more than your share as those in the water or about to surf their heats may miss out. If you have a partner or friend on the beach to cheer you on, they will be able to purchase food - just ask at the BBQ.

Beware! Much of the parking in Hastings Street is 2 hours only and the inspectors are ruthless! The Lions Park (opposite Halse Lodge) is 4 hours but the Woods / Spit area has all day parking in some areas and the Noosa Heads Surf Club car park and the public car park beside the Emerald have a three-hour limit.

You are going to want to win one of these so make sure you know how to lock in those high scoring rides.
